CAPACITORS
For the Johanson Technology surface mount High-Q capacitor line, there are RoHS compliant families available.C-SERIES ARE NOT COMPLIANT WITH RoHS
The C-Series family was obsolete in late 2005 as it cannot meet the RoHS directive because of a Cadmium compound ingredient in the ceramic body.
S-SERIES ARE COMPLIANT WITH RoHS
The S-Series family, which replaces the older C-Series family, has lead free, 100% tin plated terminations, and it meets the RoHS directive. This does not include the optional termination code "T" which signifies tin-lead terminations. All S-Series size families (R07, R14 & R15) have lead content way below the 1000ppm threshold in their ceramic body. Therefore, the entire S-Series family is RoHS compliant.
L-SERIES ARE COMPLIANT WITH RoHS
The L-Series family also has lead free, 100% tin plated terminations, and can meet the RoHS directive.
This does not include the optional termination code "T" which signifies tin-lead terminations. The lead content in the part is way below the 1000ppm threshold for all parts less than 4.7 pF.
For parts greater than or equal to 4.7 pF, the lead content is greater than 1000 ppm in the ceramic body only (but NOT in the termination), the RoHS directive exemption given in the RoHS Directive Annex item 7(c) -III apply.
7c-III: Lead in dielectric ceramic in capacitors for a rated voltage of less than 125 V AC or 250 V DC - Expires 1 January 2013.
All other RoHS prohibited materials are non-existent in this family. Therefore, the entire L-Series family is RoHS compliant.
E-SERIES ARE COMPLIANT WITH RoHS
The E-Series family which was designed for low loss, high current and high voltage applications has lead free, 100% tin plated terminations, and it can meet the RoHS directive. This does not include the optional termination code "T" which signifies tin-lead terminations. All E-Series size families (S42, S48 & S58) are completely lead-free in their ceramic body. Therefore, the entire E-Series family is RoHS compliant.
LASERTRIM
The laser trim capacitor series meets the RoHS directive as long as "N", "S", or "M" dielectrics are shown in the part number.
SINGLE LAYER
The single layer capacitor series mostly meet the RoHS directive. However, some dielectrics do not. Please consult the factory for further clarification. In all instances, the terminations are lead free.
INDUCTORS
RF CERAMIC INDUCTORS ARE COMPLIANT WITH RoHS
For our monolithic inductor family, the entire product family is RoHS compliant, and has lead free terminations when manufactured after June 1, 2002. The ceramic body has a lead compound in it that is greater than 1000 ppm (there is no lead in the termination), whereby the RoHS directive exemption given in the RoHS Directive Annex item 7c-I applies.
7c-I: Electrical and electronic components containing lead in a glass or ceramic other than dielectric ceramic in capacitors, e.g. piezoelectronic devices, or in a glass or ceramic matrix compound. All other RoHS prohibited materials are non-existent in this family. The part number will not change to signify compliance, but the date code (which is part of the lot code) needs to be greater than 226-XXXX* (which is the first week of June 2002, see below).
WIREWOUND INDUCTORS ARE COMPLIANT WITH RoHS
For the Johanson Technology wire wound inductors, the entire product family is RoHS compliant (all prohibited materials are absent). Wire wound inductors also have lead free terminations, regardless of date of manufacture.
RF INTEGRATED PASSIVE COMPONENTS
RF Components
For our RF component line, including filters (LPF, HPF, BPF, and Filter-Baluns ), antennas, couplers, baluns, matched impedance balun-filters and diplexers, the entire family has lead free terminations if manufactured after August 1, 2004. The ceramic body has a lead compound in it that is greater than 1000 ppm (there is no lead in the termination), whereby the RoHS directive exemptions given in the RoHS Directive Annex item 7c-I applies.
7c-I: Electrical and electronic components containing lead in a glass or ceramic other than dielectric ceramic in capacitors, e.g. piezoelectronic devices, or in a glass or ceramic matrix compound.
All other RoHS prohibited materials are non-existent in this family. The part number will not change, but the date code (which is part of the lot code) needs to be greater than 433-XXXX* (which is the first week of August 2004).
New Product Road Map
Johanson Technology Inc. is constantly working with customers to design and manufacture components to keep up with industry standards. All new products will have minimal if not any substances of very high concern. Check the Johanson Technology website (www.johansontechnology.com) site periodically for future updates.
REACH Certification
The European Commission Environment is constantly adding substances of very high concern to their registered substances list. Currently manufacturers are required to certify their products one time per calendar year. During the time a certification is valid substances may be added which will not apply to aging certification until next calendar year. Currently Johanson Technology Inc. receives their certification on February of each year.
Manufacturing Code Details
*Manufacturing code is based on decade system; year manufactured should accompany each code. This code resets every 10 years.
