As an Account Manager you will be expected to execute sales strategies, initiate contact with existing and potential customers, and identify needs and quotes to appropriate merchandise to meet those needs.

Essential Functions:

As an Account Manager you will be expected to execute sales strategies, initiate contact with existing and potential customers, and identify needs and quotes to appropriate merchandise to meet those needs.

  • Manage assigned accounts.
  • Contact via email or phone prospective customers and establish buying cycles, customer needs, and create a customer supplier relationship.
  • Prepare sales/quote information for customers.
  • Establish buying influences, budgets and purchasing criteria for assigned accounts.
  • Secure and place orders in the MRP system taking into consideration; request delivery dates and inventory levels for fulfillment.
  • Respond to Request for information (RFI) within a 24 hour period.
  • Respond to Request for Quotation (RFQ) - Meet quotation response goals (24-48 hour period).
    • o Ensure costing/pricing is done properly
  • Quote generation
  • Follow-up on quotes directly and/or through the sales channel
  • Negotiate pricing within stated authority.
  • Challenge price reduction requests (inside and out)
    • o Ask the right questions before lowering the price – no matter who asks for it
  • Close orders within the approved pricing authority level
  • Pro-actively communicate delivery information and expected late shipments with a revised date and reason for slippage.
  • Expedite and sample request processing with in a 24 hours period.
  • Capable of following Company and Department procedures/policies.
  • Able to multi-task with a sense of urgency and work effectively.

Experience and education preferred

  • Some College experience
  • 2+ years of customer service/ inside sales support experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Organization skills; ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize; initiative and work under minimal supervision.
