RoHS ‘1’

EU DIRECTIVE (2002/95/EC) & EU DIRECTIVE (2008/98/EC)

This is the original RoHS. This regulation is an EU Directive (2002/95/EC) pertaining to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE). It was adopted by the EU in February 2003 and brought into force 1st of July 2006.

RoHS ‘2’


RoHS2 is an updated / revised version of the RoHS ‘1’. There are no additions to or difference in the six restricted substances although the amounts of the allowed ppm for some substance are reduced.

RoHS ‘3’

EU DIRECTIVE (2015/863/EU)

RoHS ‘3’ expands the list of prohibited substances from six to ten by adding four new types of phthalates. This directive has already been adopted by the EU legislature. The new list is as follows: Lead (0.1 %) Mercury (0.1 %) Cadmium (0.01 %) Hexavalent chromium (0.1 %) Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) (0.1 %) Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) (0.1 %) Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0.1 %) Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) (0.1 %) Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (0.1 %) Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0.1 %)


S-Series, L-Series, E-Series, C-Series, and G-Series are RoHS3 Compliant

All standard production MLCC products meet EU Directive 2011/65/EU requirements for lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) without exceptions.

All parts comply with the requirements of Directive 2015/863/EU amending Annex II of Directive 2011/65/EU limiting concentrations of the four phthalates: Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).

Directives 2016/1028 and 2016/1029 of 19 April 2016 do not apply to parts produced by Johanson Technology Inc.

Those intentionally plated with the optional termination codes "T” or “C" which signify Tin-Lead (Sn/Pb) termination are not RoHS compliant.


The laser trim capacitor series meets the RoHS directive.


The single layer capacitor series meets the RoHS directive.



Our entire monolithic inductor family is RoHS 3 compliant.


Johanson Technology supplied wire wound inductors are RoHS 3 compliant. There are no prohibited materials. Wire wound inductors have lead free terminations, regardless of date of manufacture.


  RF Components

The entire RF component line, including filters LPF, HPF, BPF, and Filter-Baluns; antennas, couplers, baluns, matched impedance balun-filters, diplexers, and power dividers are RoHS 3 compliant.

  REACH Certification

REACH is a regulation by the European Union intended to improve the protection of human health and the environment. It stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals.

The European Commission Environment is constantly adding substances of very high concern to their registered substances list. Currently manufacturers are required to certify their products one time per calendar year. During the time a certification is valid substances may be added which will not apply to aging certification until next calendar year. Johanson Technology receives their certification in the first quarter of each year.

Johanson has made the necessary preparations to ensure compliance with the regulation.

  New Product Road Map

Johanson Technology Inc. is constantly working with customers to design and manufacture components to keep up with industry standards. All new products will have minimal or no substances of very high concern. Check the Johanson Technology website ( site periodically for future updates.
