We’re proud to release the latest integrated RF front-end solution for the nRF52840 SoC, the most advanced member of the nRF52 Series SoC family. Our new p/n 2450FM07B0037 encompasses an impedance matching network and Low Pass Filter (LPF) in a small, 1.0x0.5x0.4mm surface mount component that reduces PCB space usage of the RF front-end, guarantees filtering (FCC/ETSI compliance), prevents any manufacturing variability. Johanson Technology releases its first, single feed, multi-band antenna designed for Sub GHz (868-928MHz) and 2.4GHz, single feed antenna that can be also tune to other Sub GHz frequencies as well as higher frequencies than 2.4GHz. This highly versatile chip antenna is compatible with the most popular RF wireless chipsets that have dual band 900M/2.4G support in their hardware reference designs.
In a collaborative effort with Texas Instruments, Johanson Technology, Inc has developed a compact, easy to implement front-end Integrated Passive Component (IPC) which embeds the required complex matching and L/C circuits. This IPC constitutes 2 discrete baluns, 2 filters and DC bias feeds, saving you valuable time-to-market, FCC/ETSI compliance, and precious PCB utilized area. Because 2.4GHz applications have gotten more and more sophisticated, Johanson Technology has launched its first 2440MHz directional patch antenna. This 12x12x4mm SMD component will radiate mostly in the +Z direction. In other words, the majority of the radiation pattern (3.5dBi) will occur directly above the component where one can design-in with certain predictability. It is surface mount (SMT) and can solve unique application requirements for smart lock access, IoT, BLE, Bluetooth location beacon, lighting, drones, LoRa®, Zigbee, indoor location, etc.

Johanson Technology releases its newest WiFi ceramic diplexing technology with these two EIA 0603 (1608 metric) diplexer filters which offer very high attenuation (43dB +) despite the small package. Our 802.11 next generation components were designed with minimal insertion loss, highest attenuation, isolation, and overall performance in mind while keeping a very small footprint. In conjunction with SiLabs, Johanson Technology has developed two fully integrated, complete RF Front-End devices for the EFR32 family of chipsets that support sub-GHz bands. The first two components released will support 433MHz and 868MHz unlicensed bands. In partnership with ANSYS, Inc., Johanson Technology’s chip antennas are now available in their full 3D electromagnetic splendor when used in HFSS. As long as one has ANSYS HFSS version 18.3 or later, designers can now import or drag and drop the complete EM SMT antenna model into their work space. There’s no need for an NDA or any special permission to obtain these (as it was required before.

This low loss harmonic filter (LPF) is ideal for small form-factor devices such as LoRa® tags, BLE, wearables, battery operated, Zigbee, small RF modules, and goes very well with reference designs. Automotive AEC-Q200 version is available upon request. It occupies very little PCB space when mounted right on the 50ohm trace. These high rejection ceramic coaxial resonator filters were specifically designed for applications that require splitting the unlicensed 5GHz spectrum into two or more bands that are very close together such as 802.11ax, UNII, U-NII Low, U-NII High, U-NII Upper, U-NII-2A, and U-NII-3. These passive surface mount (SMD/SMT) ceramic mono-block cavity filters offer excellent narrow band filtering performance and are able to reject 50dB in less than 160MHz. Johanson has now completed the qualification of the R05L, R07S, R14S, R15S, S42E high-q capacitor series per the latest revision (rev D) of the AEC-Q200 automotive standard.
With this qualification, Johanson is now one of the few high-Q capacitor manufacturers that are AEC-Q200 qualified.

The component count is significantly reduced from 11 to 1, while still obtaining high radio performance. Johanson Technology releases p/n: 2450BM14G0011, a small footprint (EIA 0603) front-end integrated passive device for Texas Instruments’ latest multi-protocol Bluetooth Smart, ZigBee® and 6LoWPAN CC26XX family chipsets. This component encompasses an impedance matching network, balun, and Low Pass Filter (LPF) in a small, 1.6x0.8x0.6mm SMT package that significantly reduces PCB space usage, guarantees filtering (FCC/ETSI compliance), and prevents manufacturing variability. To use a high-Q capacitor at higher frequencies, a common solution is to replace it with several capacitors that have lower values arranged in a parallel position. For example, a 30pF capacitor can be replaced with three 10pF capacitors.
At Johanson, we have the ability to use capacitors with a wider capacitance tolerance and match them. This leads to a tighter tolerance for the overall capacitance value. For instance, we can use three capacitors at 10pF with a 5% tolerance and match them to get 30pF with a 1% tolerance. The result is an increase in frequency range, while keeping the cost down. We can deliver these matched capacitors in a matched set (small and medium size capacitors), or already mounted in a capacitor assembly (large size capacitors, i.e. 2525 and 3838).

Johanson is shipping non-magnetic terminations for sizes 0402 (R07S) and for some of the standard values for NPO (R07N) and X7R (R07W) dielectrics. Few manufacturers can offer non-magnetic terminations for these sizes.

First of its kind in a low profile, Johanson Technology releases a metal mounted low profile surface mount chip antenna. This antenna must have metal directly underneath on bottom layer in order to function properly. This antenna was designed in mind for small coin cell, wearable, IoT, 2.4 BLE, 802.11, ISM, Zigbee, etc. applications in close-range networks where metal or a battery/display covers the entire length or side of the PCB or encasement must be present directly under the antenna and there's no room for usual/typical antenna metal clearance, similar to mounting an SMT capacitor or inductor. Johanson Releases Metal-Mounted, ZERO Clearance Antenna
The Thin Film group at Johanson Technology has long offered rectangular Single Layer Capacitors for the same price as the equivalent square area SLCs. Without a catalog listing, the custom part numbers required for rectangular parts did not work for customers who are restricted to COTS or who require catalog parts for reference designs. Johanson Technology releases its first LGA ultra-small footprint front-end integrated passive device (nordic CSP chipset balun) for NordicSemi’s nRF51822-CEAA, nRF51822-CDAB, nRF51822-CFAC, nRF51422-CEAA, nRF51422-CDAB, and nRF51422-CFAC chipsets. This component encompasses an impedance matching network, balun, and Band Pass Filter (BPF) in a small, 1.4x1.0x0.69mm LGA surface mount component that significantly reduces PCB space usage for the RF front-end, guarantees filtering (FCC/ETSI compliance), prevents any manufacturing variability. Johanson releases new 1GHz STB (Set Top Box), MoCA reject low pass filter designed for 75ohm systems. Newer home networking technologies always present opportunities and challenges and CATV various frequencies coexistence is no different, especially with systems using less and less wires. Johanson has released 75Ohm 1GHz LPF p/n: 1000LP41B1000 in mass production to help solve these design predicaments.
Extended range Receive Optical Sub-Assemblies (ROSAs) for fiber optic network systems require high sensitivity Avalanche Photo-Diode (APD) detectors instead of the standard PIN-diode detector. To improve detector sensitivity, the bias to an APD must have a high capacitance broadband filter on the power input to the device. This filter prevents high-frequency noise getting to the APD via the power input and interfering with the incoming signal. JTI SLCs using our GBBL dielectric fit the capacitance and broadband requirements for PIN-diode detector input power filtering and the VCC filtering for the associated signal processor. With the 63V and 100V ratings now available, GBBL capacitors can now also be used for the input power filtering on an APD device. Production volumes are shipping and samples are available from stock.

Johanson Technology announces the offering of passive RF Triplexer for GPS/GLNSS+BLE/WiFi + WLAN for portable applications. This small EIA 0805 component has one LPF and two BPF integrated to receive and filter, and split 1.5, 2.45, and 5.5GHz signals for various RF chipsets who offer combined functionality and/or wideband antenna systems where triplexing the 3 RF signals is required
For location systems needing redundancy, the addition of new civilian-use signal is transmitted on a frequency other than the L1 (1.575GHz).
